what are the best welding gloves for light welding mig/ flux core?
Reply:The best ones are the ones that fit good, feel good and you don't mind the price Can't be figured without standing in the store and tryin them on IMHO.Dave J.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.
Reply:For light duty and good tactile sense these gloves are amazing. http://www.weldfabulous.com/p-60287-...ves-large.aspxThey don't last as long as some but do pretty good considering. You can feel a couple thou step through them, type on the keyboard, TIG, just about anything. They don't like getting wet though. The cowhide version is a little thicker and a little more durable with only a slight loss in feel.Lincoln precision TIG 275Millermatic 140 MIG

Reply:Originally Posted by flux core joehome hobby welding? id recomend form fitting gloves like millers hd mig stick glove maybe the tillman 750 or 650 but to be honest i do some house welding with flux core and like tig gloves or hobarts multi purpose gloves that fit and look like mechanics gloves
Reply:Find ones that fit your hands and feel comfortable. And that you feel comfortable paying that amount for.Usually, Tillmans seem to be a decent price/performance point and seem to fit my hands.Get the 'right' glove for the task at hand.  A thin TIG glove is usually not the right glove for doing some stick welding, and vice versa.http://jtillman.com/products/gloves/Miller (don't know who makes them) sells some decent gloves too.  You seem to pay a little more for the logo though.http://www.millerwelds.com/products/...d-panel-glovesYou mentioned you are currently using Tillman 24C gloves.  That's a thin, unlined, kidskin TIG glove.http://jtillman.com/products/gloves/tig/24c/ If that works for your needs, great.  But to me, using that glove for stick or MIG is not really using the 'right' glove for the task/job.There are other brand gloves that are fine too, but the Tillmans are usually pretty easily available.  The best laid schemes ... Reply:@ dotthedew944 - the "best" gloves are the ones you have on you right now, ready to rock, with war wounds from practice and activity.  Don't chase "best".  Better in the enemy of good enough. For snowboarding in Jackson Hole, WY, my "best" winter gloves are the old-school leather work gloves with the exterior rip cord. Reply:Well, I can tell you that the WORST ones are the ones sold by Lincoln and available at your local Lowes or Home Depot.   They are too thick and stiff in my opinion.  About the only thing they are excellent for are pulling out a pissed of feral cat or possum from a Have-A-Heart live trap.

Reply:Tillman is pretty good, not cheap...the ones with the name of the welding store on the back are usually a dis-appointment.I guess Harbor Fright might have something, don't know, never shopped there, and probably won't...ever. Just my opinion after 35+ years of welding now and then.Last edited by dougspair; 06-18-2013 at 02:23 AM.Dougspair
