In Jody's videos, he sometimes tapers off the heat on the side of the bevel and leaves the rod stuck in the puddle. What's the point of doing this? At first, I thought it was just to keep the rod handy for restart, but then I saw him do it and break off the rod after everything cooled. Thanks.Everlast PA160-STH... and that's about it!
Reply:Keeps the end of the rod shielded and keeps the steel from key holing as much when you start moving the arc up the bevel.Last edited by SquirmyPug; 06-20-2013 at 08:58 AM.Airco Ac/Dc 300 HeliwelderMillerMatic 200 (stolen)Miller Maxstar 150STLMiller AEAD200LE (welding and generating power) Hobart MIG
