Hooked this machine up today and it tigs just fine but will not stick weld. When I try to use it as a stick welder you can strike an arc but it is very weak and can not be maintained. The tig works fine. Any ideas where to start looking. Thanks

Reply:Is there a remote switch on the face somewhere? Does it have a foot pedal, ifso what does the arc do when you use the pedal and try to stick weld?
Reply:This may be a dumb question...to tig carbon steel you should be on electrode negative and electrode positive for stick. Did you switch the leads?UA Local 598
