The best certification?

What is overall the best certification to hold? And I am not looking for responses like "well it depends on what type of welding your into". Bar none what is the best certification in talks opinion? What is the cert that opens the most doors, makes the most money generally, and employers are looking for.

Reply:The "best" certification is the one you need to get the job you want, I would guess.
Reply:Go with ASME. Find an employer who does that kind of work. Always a challenge, very strict quality control, and you'll never really build the same thing twice. Pay is usually higher than what the average "wire monkey" gets. Also you will learn a very broad range of processes and materials including titanium
Reply:Degree and a cert are two different things.   Yes, a degree in the above mentioned should open more doors,at the very least move u to the top of the stack of resumes.
Reply:When I first learned that you have to be certified by the company every time you start a new job, I gave up on bothering with certs out of pocket. I don't see the point, other than to make your resume look good I guess. Which isn't really a bad thing. If I had to choose, I imagine ASME IX would be your best bet. It covers high pressure pipe and I think there's a nuclear standard in there somewhere.But if you have a chance to get in a good welding engineering or metallurgy program, go for it.
Reply:AWS D1.1API 1104The two most common Certs.  There are alot more fancy and harder but these are the two basics.More is never enough.
Reply:Im with akabadnews. Certification means nothing. Pull one out to show to your hopeful boss and he will tell you he needs his own tests passed. Show it at a place that just wants a warm body and they will tell you that you are over qualified and wont hire you because you wont stay. I carry a card in my billfold that I got for passing a 6g pipe test for a refinery but I have never told or showed it for a job. Wouldnt spend the money on it . Let some company pay for it. Ha.
