Quick question for all Lincoln Invertec stick/tig machine owners, have you ever performed the recommended "input filter capacitor discharge procedure"? I noticed they suggest doing this ever so often, yet they don't include the necessary resistor with the machine. Any ideas on the best place to pick up the resistor? Also, what is the reasoning behind this procedure? I picked up an Invertec V250-s several years ago, and primarily use it in the TIG function at less than 100 amps. I've had this machine at least 6 years, and have never done the capacitor discharge. Thanks!

Reply:From what I read in a manual, it's done before you work inside the machine so you don't zapped. Reply:I have a V250s and I think it did say to discharge for some reason other than service. Usually, lethal caps have bleed resistors but I dont remember if the 250s does. In any case, if you want to bleed your caps, I suggest using an LED soldered to a resistor to bleed. The LED will light up and slowly fade out when discharged. Its safer that way.
