i just got a spool gun for my power mig 255 as it is set for regular mig the grounding clamp is on the negative stud. i will be running aluminum through the spool gun and am figuring the ground clamp is shared and i will also hook the ground cable from the spool gun to the negative.stud in the machine what im wondering is since aluminum is supposed to be reverse polarity does the spool gun control board do this or am i missing something ?350P 30A spool gun cut master 51 syncro 250 other stuff " take a dog off the street and make him prosper and he will not bite you sad the same cannot be said for man" i didnt use punctuation just to piss you off
Reply:aluminum is AChttp://specific.net
Reply:Duh,Last time I checked, migging aluminum with a spoolgun was DC, NOT AC.Mr. Finnigan needs to do a little more homework.umahunter,Don't know what spoolgun you're talking about, but with my 30A (Miller), it doesn't have a "ground/work lead". It has a power connection, which you attach to the positive post in the machine. Work (ground) is used for both standard mig and spoolgun.Syncro 250 DX Dynasty 200 DXMM 251 w/30A SG XMT 304 w/714 Feeder & Optima PulserHH187Dialarc 250 AC/DCHypertherm PM 1250Smith, Harris, Victor O/ASmith and Thermco Gas MixersAccess to a full fab shop with CNC Plasma, Water Jet, etc.
Reply:Alum is the same polarity as any gas MIG process, just stack its terminal on the internal wire feeder terminal. The only time you swap polarity is if your using flux core wire.Syncrowave 350Coolmate 3Millermatic 251Spoolmatic 30A
