I was considering the 20 sized torches from weldcraft or CK.The CK said the water requirements were 1 quart per minuite which is about15 gallons per hour. Most of the commercial coolers use 100 to 140 gallon per hour procons.I have a procon ordered.  I am wondering since there would seem to be morepump capacity than the torch needs why couldn't I run the pump slower -say 200 - 500 rpm with a belt reduction .....  this would allow me to use a littlesmaller motor ( I have a nice compact 1/5 hp 1725 capacitor start from a12 inch bandsaw )Also do yall think the ck-20 is as good as the wp-20 ?  I liked the bigger water passagething in the ck......Tim
Reply:The proper Procon pump has a big acorn nut that covers up the screw you use to set the psi down to 55 psi.  That takes care of the flow.Miller Syncrowave 350Millermatic 252/ 30A spoolgunMiller Bobcat 225g w/ 3545 spoolgunLincoln PowerArc4000Lincoln 175 Mig  Lincoln 135 Mig Everlast 250EX TigCentury ac/dc 230 amp stickVictor O/AHypertherm 1000 plasma
Reply:I would recommend matching or exceeding the power @ duty cycle rating of your torch to your machine. The CK20 torch is rated for more AC welding power than the weldcraft WP20, so assuming you have a machine that can take advantage of the extra power the CK20 can put out, the CK would be my choice over the WP20; for being more capable when welding thicker aluminum:  CK CK20 or CK200: 250 amps AC @ 100% duty cycle.  Weldcraft WP20: 180 amps AC % 100% duty If you go CK, and value cable flexibility, don't get the "triflex" cable by the way, this one-piece PVC molded  multi-passage cable is quite stiff.  The "superflex" cable is really nice and worth paying extra for if you want a really maneuverable torch setup.Weldcraft does make a beefier torch that takes WP20 consumables, their "Crafter" CS310 (rated 235 amps AC @ 100% duty cycle). Then there is the CK worldwide CK230 (rated at a whopping 300 amps AC @ 100% duty cycle, while still taking the WP20 style consumables.)You might want to check out speedway's offerings.  The speedway SW320 looks pretty nice, 320 amps @ unknown duty cycle:http://www.tectorch.com/sw%20torches.htmMatch your torch's power capabilities up to your machine's, get flexible rubber hoses, and life will be good. Reply:the Dynasty 200 can only do 200 A.     So I think that the ck-20 looks perfect. But so far no one has given me an opinion about the flow rates ........I can see no reason to run the pump 6 times too fast and dump the excess and wear the rotors needlessly ......   I was thinking of getting a cone type pulley like on a drill pressso I can jump the belt for different speeds.    I think I won't know what the resistanceto flow will drive the pressure to so i think  i will have to try it to see what rpm I need.T
Reply:CK is just as good as Weldcraft in terms of quality. They have been in the industry for a long time, got their start serving the aerospace industry up in the Pacific Northwest.... and you know those aerospace guys need top quality equipment!-----------------------Carmen Electrodewww.CarmenElectrode.comand the boss blogs at  www.JoeWelder.comall powered by  www.Arc-Zone.com
Reply:Thanks for the thumbs up on CK !   I liked the fact of it being able to flow more water internaly !Tim
