purge welding

SO i was doing some work @ a chese factory and saw that some of the guys were using a paste rubed on the I.D. of the joint instead of a purge they said it was water soluble and washed right out when they steam cleaned the pipes. Well i kinda dismised it and now im welding some 22ga 304  for a formed up fuel tank and that stuff would be awesome to use .Any one have any clue what it is called i went to the welding shop today and they looked at me like i was crazy when i started talking about it

Reply:solar flux. i personaly beleave that it works better with denatured alchol  but my self prfer the purge process over this.don't  be mad cause i can be mad cause you can't!
Reply:tnx guys im building a fuel tank for my jeep out of 22ga stainless and the back sides of the weld are cristalizing so i figure untill i can seal it an purge ill just use that stuff
