With so many different brands out there, I  am just curious as to whos using what, and why. Is it based on price, quailty, accessability, ect?Miller Synchrowave 180 SDLincoln PowerMig 255Hypertherm Powermax 45Torchmate 2x2Victor O/A
Reply:I've found Lincoln mig wire to be the best. There was a noticeable difference between Lincoln and cheap HF wire quality wise. The cheap stuff was like mig welding without shielding gas. Those are the two types I've used in the past.
Reply:I really like hobart wire... Its cheap, and runs like a dream. Im pretty sure that Lincoln wire is about the same, but I've never ran it. Just avoid the un-labeled Chinese stuff, and anything from HF, as a general rule of thumb.[Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. See you on YouTube! -ChuckE2009
Reply:I've never tried the Lincoln or the Hobart, but have run the crappy HF stuff before, and I will never do that again. I have found Pinnacle to be the best that I have personally used so far. I just wanted to see what everyone else was using. Maybey i'll try something different with my next spool.Miller Synchrowave 180 SDLincoln PowerMig 255Hypertherm Powermax 45Torchmate 2x2Victor O/A
Reply:ive always used lincoln and now im using a praxair brand which is made by lincoln haven't tried much else350P 30A spool gun cut master 51  syncro 250 other stuff " take a dog off the street and make him prosper and he will not bite you sad the same cannot be said for man" i didnt use punctuation just to piss you off

Reply:I have always used Hobart wire as well. I buy the 10lb spools and they have never disappointed me. I did however get a "free" spool of wire from a kit of stuff i bought on ebay, it didn't say what brand it was on the sticker only that it was made in china. I ended up trying it in my machine and i was pleased to find that it welded just as good as the hobart wire what ever it was.
Reply:I buy my main ER70S-6 wire at Praxair in the 48 pound spools. It's good stuff.
Reply:Iam using ESAB brand where I work (it's all they have right now) and it's garbage.  There is always problems with the wire.  It's often wrapped wrong and gets tangled as it comes off the spool, or it has kinks in it that cause the wire to wonder comming out of the contact tip, or its kinked bad enough to get stuck in the tip.  Wouldn't recommend it at all.
Reply:my local welding shop sells washington alloys brand the 70s wire is all i use from this brand and is runs as well i need from body shop wire. for dualsheild i run esab  and i swear by it the best 100% CO welds you will ever see and for stick lincoln or murex ONLY and lincoln only for flux core the. I get 30 lbs of the washington bare wire @ 1.25 a lb not that bad if you ask meas far as 70s wire is concerend  they all run about the same the cleanliness of the metal is more important i had a spool come out of an ln25 that sat in my buddy's barn for 5 years and i wire brushed the top layer and went off welding it ran fine... remember it is body shop wire and nothing more. about as usefull as 6013Last edited by bravofab; 02-10-2011 at 10:00 PM.
Reply:Hey guys,I use a variety of mfg's wire with great results & no issues. For f-c, mostly Lincoln NR211MP & Techniweld E70T-1/11, with 70S-6, Hobart/Harris/the Italy HF that welds quite nicely, & aluminum, I use, Indalco/Harris/Alumitech.DennyComplete Welding/Machine/Fab. Reply:I've been using ER70S-6 , 035 from HTP. (USA Welds).  I think the wire is as good as the Lincoln.  It's China wire, but is copper covered, and wound on the spool in layers.  Feeds and welds very well.  I like it better than the Airgas "Radnor" brand.  10# is $14.50 while 30# is $31.00.Tracker401
Reply:Just bought a 30lb. spool of Washington alloys 70S-6. I've run a few beads, and im very pleased so far.Miller Synchrowave 180 SDLincoln PowerMig 255Hypertherm Powermax 45Torchmate 2x2Victor O/A
Reply:i use htp wire as well i have used 10# of er70s-6 and 20# or 30# of 4043 al wire with no problems, and they are cheap.Dynasty 200DXPassport plus w/ spoolmate 100victor 315c oxy/(act and prop)Miller digital elitemilwaukee power tools
Reply:For what application, I will run the cheap crap .045 hard wire with CO2 doing dump truck bodies and plows. Structural work I like Hobart Excel Arc 71 dual shield or Triple 7. Innershield I like Lincoln 211 or 232. For railings and other semi light fab work Hobart HB-28 in .035 is nice, body work give me ESAB easy grind in .023. It all depends on what your doing and what you like.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:I have always used McKay S-6 with great results. I have some Praxair brand stuff which is fine also. I was told it was made by Lincoln."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"
Reply:my lws sells anchor.  can't say anything bad about itPound to fit, paint to match
Reply:For solid wire, it will depend on the machine you are running it in. My Esab 350 MPI runs Hobart wires about the best. BR-6/QA-6 in .035 and HB-28 in .030.(Mine is the older USA stuff) It runs Lincoln L-56 in .030 pretty decent too. My Lincoln Powerwave C-300 works very well with HB-28 in .030, and runs like crap with L-56 in .030 (same spool that works really nice in the Esab. Now here is the kicker. The Lincoln Powerwave will run the HF wire great(.035), and better then the Lincoln wire. Sharp digging arc,and good wet-out. I have to add some inductance to mellow out it's somewhat harsh arc, but it does work. (this one roll of wire)  The Chinese level wound (National Standard copper coated) works about like most level wound Koren/Taiwan stuff.(generally very nice) By the way the Lincoln  works well with Esab's lower grade (Radnor,PA.) Arc plus, and not half as good in the Esab machine. You just never know, but if you get one you like, stick with it. The McKay wire is basically  Hobart HB-28.Last edited by Brand X; 02-12-2011 at 01:33 PM.Esab/Lorch ET-220iEsab 160i caddyThermal LM-200 Lincoln feedersThermal Pee-Wee 85sThermal 60i- 3phase /RPC powered (Beast)Thermal Drag-gun 35CINE 1500 Klutch 140i
Reply:most of my welding is done nights and weekends so I tend to stick with Hobart or Lincoln as TSC and HD are close by and I can get what I need right away.  Smaller spools, but I don't use that much MIG

Reply:All I use is ESAB Spool Arc 86,, works great in the Miller delta weld 450, PA-3A Airco, 251 Trailblazer and we have even used it Pro X 60's bore welder with no problem because of the cast not being straightend.Last edited by lars66; 02-14-2011 at 08:06 PM.
Reply:Spool-arc 86 welds much better the Aristo wire imo. The Aristo has such a soft arc that my 250 Esab plus,260 Mutimaster/ 350mpi, and Powerwave C-300 welded funny with it. Good wire if you can find a machine it runs good in. Also in the MM-350p it ran funny too. Hobart QA-6 runs much nicer in those machines. This is in the short-arc only. the Aristo is fine in pulse, and spray. PS- not of fan of the MIG-6 either, although it works pretty well in the C-300 I have a 44 pounds of it I just bought. Personally I would run 86 over most wires, except maybe the QA-6 (.035)Esab/Lorch ET-220iEsab 160i caddyThermal LM-200 Lincoln feedersThermal Pee-Wee 85sThermal 60i- 3phase /RPC powered (Beast)Thermal Drag-gun 35CINE 1500 Klutch 140i
Reply:If you are having that much problems with our products let me know where you are at and I will get a local rep out there. We have a great warranty. 100% for 100 days, that includes filler metals. If you were my customer, I would be out there getting this worked out. Do you know what type it is? If it is a hard wire (ER70S-6) you could have three options. Mig-6, Spoolarc 86 or AristoRod. Let me you know where you are at, and I can get a local guy there to help out.Thanks.
