Reply:Millermatic 130xpI fell out of the game, I need wire I don't even know what kind to order online. I have .30 in there now its copper colored, they got bronze stuff. I want to put oem in it, if oem exists in the welding world. I used to buy all my stuff locally then they tore the welding shop down.Last edited by tilelayher; 02-13-2011 at 09:53 PM.Millermatic 130XPTilesetter by Trade
Reply:what are you trying to weld? it sounds to me like you have some ER70s6 in there now for mild steel. That's most likely what came "stock" with it
Reply:There is no "oem" welding wire. You select the proper wire for the job you are doing. If you are welding stainless, you find out the grade and get the appropriate stainless wire.If you are doing general purpose mild steel, you would probably chose a er70 wire. You dont simply buy one type of wire that covers everything.
Reply:Thanks, last year I got something welder and the guy used stainless on regular steel I asked him to prime it and paint and he said he didn't need to.Millermatic 130XPTilesetter by Trade
Reply:309L is used for joining SS to carbon steel (as well as a number of SSs) and may be what he used.  Doesn't mean it shouldn't have been prep'd, primed and painted though.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:What type of metals are you welding together?  Stainless to Stainless?  304? 316? Also, trimix will work or a 98Ar/2 Oxygen, or 98Ar/2 Carbon Dioxide.  Short arc it most likely, but to make the proper selection on wire type, we need to know the base materials to do the selection.

Reply:I replaced the liner yesterday all the wire was oxidized so I replaced that too. It was .30 I replaced with Hobart wire from the welding shop. I stay out of home depot, i know that from my own trade.  I decided to just stick to plain ol MIG process.Millermatic 130XPTilesetter by Trade
Reply:Just FYI the copper is applied to act as a lubricant when it is being drawn down to size by the mfg, not for corrosion resistance.Have we all gone mad?
Reply:The wire was 5 years un used I figured I needed to replace it.Millermatic 130XPTilesetter by Trade
