been doing some more reading on spoolgunning aluminum and one thing i haven't found is gas settings. ive mostly run at 20 -25 but im trying to find info on settings for different material thickness. i know with tig you adjust a bit for different material thickness im wondering if i need to do the same with miging al sorry forgot its a miller 30a on a power mig 255 indoors from 080 and up? 35 4043 and plan to run 5356 aswell just trying to get some kind of guide to go buy vs trial and errorLast edited by umahunter; 02-20-2011 at 12:06 AM.350P 30A spool gun cut master 51 syncro 250 other stuff " take a dog off the street and make him prosper and he will not bite you sad the same cannot be said for man" i didnt use punctuation just to piss you off
Reply:Hey uma,You need to post your equip. power level, type of wire & dia., & material grade/thicknesses. If indoors, with my spoolgun, I generally run 18cfh for the thicknesses up to 1/4" I do. On my mobile(250A S/G), outside, if only slightly breezy, 22-24cfh. If it's more than a slight breeze, forget it with MIG & alum..DennyComplete Welding/Machine/Fab.
