here is a decorative fireplace screen of 1/8 inch mild steel flat, 3/4 inch wide. It is finished in a patina (weathered greenish copper color). The tube is 3/4 inch .063 square tube. I have not learned to bend yet so i cut little wedges out of it every 8 inches and welded it into a multi sided arch. If the picture of my dog made it, his name is tbone Attached Images

Reply:thanks! the paint is a three part dealio i got at Michaels. It has three different colors that you apply with a sponge or rag. One of the colors is dark, the next is metallic gold or copper and the third is the green patina. WOW it was easy and looks so authentic! Those stars are also 1/8 steel. My three yorkies dont really care much for the fireplace, so they just chill on the couch!
Reply:Nice work. Check out some of the roll benders in this forum. The way you bent the tube actually adds another bit of dimension to the piece.Contrary to popular opinion, I do NOT have a pet turkey that craps molten steel. It's a goose.
Reply:Nice job!
Reply:Did you cut the stars with a torch or a saw? Either way, the points look sharp and clean!
Reply:Excellent job my friend,Looks really decorative and functional too,How did you make the stars?.I have bent small box like that before just using 2 pins about 1/2" dia nipped hard in a vise and gradually bend by hand, advancing the tube about 1" at a time,Give it a go if you have any off-cuts left, you will surprised how quick and easy it is,Lincoln SP-170 MigHypertherm powermax 45Lorch T220 AC/DC TigButters FM 215 synergic MigKemppi 180 adaptive mig RULES ARE FOR THE OBEDIENCE OF FOOLS AND THE GUIDANCE OF WISE MEN.
