Panogram gear box

Trying to figure out how to make gears oscillate on panogram to float torch head for fish mouth cut on pipe... Old timer fitter is very stingy with sharing info.. Haha, good guy though.. Anyways, if anyone is familiar with a scale and/or has xp on a machine similar to this one..Just looking for familiarity is why im a little vague on machine details... And im playing with it so not a big deal if noone pursues more info.Sal
Reply:What about a cam rather than gears? Make a set of master fish mouths rings that could chain driven 1:1 off the roller that an arm would follow to move the torch. Another option would be to make some fish mouth rings that clamp to the end of the pipe behind the cut and the move the torch. It might be possible to use a single cam and adjust it's location on the arm to produce the desired motion but that would require to experimentation and math.

Reply:WP, I've about scratched a hole through my head thinking about it. All I come with are things that I'm sure are more than obvious to you.But there's gotta be some simple intuitive way to set it up.So the best I can suggest is to try to ID the machine model and hope for an on-line operator's manual. Reply:The last picture in post 7 appears to have the mechanism required. You have a large gear that appears to move a partial gear back and forth below. What does the adjuster plate do with the hand knob? Obviously there is a way to engage and disengage the motion. Engage it and see how it moves and adjust to taste.
