I just got my first 75/25 cylinder and decided to go with 120 cf bottle fro $200. Seemed like the right choice since price difference for filling different size cylinders were very minimal .  So I hooked it up to my flowmeter and it's reads 1200 psi.  Is that about right for being full bottle?
Reply:Most likely not. Take a look at the neck ring and see what is stamped there. The number tells you the rated PSI for that cylinder. Typically they are between 2015 and 2400.  For example if the cylinder is marked 3AA2400, it would be a 2400 psi cylinder and I'd consider it "full" at between 2200-2400 psi..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Slow leaks or short-fills do happen at the LWS. If you'll return it and explain exactly what happened they'll likely swap it for a full without blinking an eye. It will help if you go back as soon as possible... and explain it reasonably and calmly. (I used to work at a LWS, can you tell?)I have a tough time getting to my LWS during their hours because my hours don't coincide with theirs. I've taken to bringing a regulator with me and pressure testing right there at the loading dock, always after the transaction so the guy behind the desk can get on with his day. The assumption is the bottle is full, but I check just to save myself a trip.
Reply:Don't overlook the possibility that the pressure gauge on your flowmeter could be bad. If you have any other gauges that you can hook up to it, double-check it. Otherwise, like others have essentially said, NO, that's not full. Good luck and regards, Allanaevald
Reply:i have had that happen before gotten them at 1600 to 1800 i bring a known working Gauge with me now. full is between 2200 to 2400 psi as DSW said but depending on the rating for the cylinder if it has a star after the plus it is rated for 10% OverfillMiller Xmt 350Lincoln Ln-25Ahp 200xSmith Gas Mixer AR/HTig is my Kung FuThrowing down dimes and weaving aboutInstagram http://instagram.com/[email protected]

Reply:Originally Posted by DSWThe star gives you a 10 year hydro vs the standard 5 years. The "+" marking designates it's rated for 10% overfill, but I seldom if ever see a commercial cylinder filled that way. The only place I've regularly seen cylinders filled to the "+" rated pressures have been in the SCUBA industry with dive cylinders.I will note that my supplier did post up a notice a while back that until further notice helium cylinders would not be filled to the max pressure listed due to supply and demand issues. If I remember they notice correctly "full" would now be around 1500 psi vs about 2000-2200 psi previously.
Reply:I get about 2800 in a full bottle, dunno I dont pay attention to that stuff. Either I get what I expect out of a tank or it i a dud.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
