Well I figured it was time to build a new cooker. Pipe is 20" diameter X 28" long X 3/16" wall.Legs are 3/4" X 3/4" solid square tubing. Let me know what you think and I'm open for suggestions. We are on our way to being farmers! Our site is always under construction so check back often for updates.  http://www.philosophyfarmstyle.com/

Reply:if it's solid, how can it be tubing? There are no problems. There are only solutions. It's your duty to determine the right one.Hobart Handler 210Airco 225 Amp MSM Stinger

Reply:That firebox you have isn't going to work to good like that. All the heat is going to go out that big open hole away from the cooking chamber. You'll have to add a plate to it and make a door in it to make the heat go the other way. The door is to add in the  fuel for the fire(wood/charcoal).

Reply:I did my firebox a little differently. The photo is a quick drawing showing how the baffle works. It is simply a 1/4" plate cut to fit inside the pipe with the top 3" cut out. The end plate of the smoker has 3" cut out of the bottom. This allows the smoke (& heat) to flow w/o getting any flame into the smoker. This thread shows the smoker in progress, I've never taken photos of the finished product.http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=28855 Attached ImagesOnly when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.                                         -Cree Indian ProverbSA 200 LincolnVictor Torches

The flat top can also be used to preheat or dry out your wood if needed before adding to the fire. This helps at times on long cooking sessions and to get the temp up higher too. With the door on the side VS in the top there is less heat loss through the top.

Reply:I changed my mind and went with a cross flow with tuning plates and a deflector plate instead of a reverse flow after I used my RF plate on another project and was able to scrap the tuning plates from left overs.Anyways here is some updated pictures. We are on our way to being farmers! Reply:It's been so long since you last posted on this, I thought surely you had finished it and were too ashamed with how it turned out to update us on it. Or else cut it up for scrap, because it just wasn't good enough for your expectations. But I guess so far so good on what you have done to date. Looks good, you seem to have a handle on the situation(several of them all over the place). Those metal wheels aren't going to work out though. If one goes flat it will be a bear trying to air it up again Shouldn't be long before sandblasting and painting, after a good test firing. When do we eat???
