My father has Parkinson and is steadily getting worse. There is no history of this in my family. My mother showed me something tonight that states that manganesehas a connection to Parkinson. Can anyone shed some light on this???
Reply:Michael J Fox has it, and has no known history of it in his family. Muhammed Ali has it, and his family has no known history of it.MY crack medical conclusion: Either your dad is short, got hit in the head a bunch of times, or both. The amounts of manganese in welding metals is very low. And I really doubt it is enough to inflict Parkinsons on someone. If it were a big issue, we would have welders shaking all over the place. My condolences, it's not a fun thing to see a loved one get an affliction of any kind. I think he just got his lottery ticket punched on this. And then, after so much work...... you have it in your hand, and you look over to your side...... and the runner has run off. Leaving you holding the prize, wondering when the runner will return.
