So...I get to the shop this AM and there are 2 cooling chambers waiting for me..They look just like these..http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=78671They were bent just like the first batch so at first I thought they liked the first two I did they sent me 2 more..Upon closer inspection they are the same ones!!!!Now I am thinking.."Hmmm what now".."I know when they left here they were perfect"...There are no instructions..prints..nothing with them at all..Boss shows up and tells me that "They were hit by a forklift and need to be straightened out and new tubes installed once again"...Wonderful.Now I get the pleasure of cutting the ends off AGAIN and putting new tubes in them AGAIN....So tomorrow is another day and I will fight with these when I get around to it..Now to find this forklift driver...I get all the fun jobs......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:FACEPALM! It's one thing to do something twice that you messed up. It's something totally different to do something twice do to someone else's negligence. And of corse it's going to be harder to do the second time because of how you did it.There are no problems. There are only solutions. It's your duty to determine the right one.Hobart Handler 210Airco 225 Amp MSM Stinger
Reply:Perfect situation where an "idiot tax" should be implemented.  At least you know you're working with clean material this time.My name's not Jim....
Reply:So not only to you get to do it again, whoever paid for it the first time gets to do it over again, too, pay that is. At least your not doing it over again because of something you did or did not do, it's still a paying job,AGAIN. And this time you KNOW the guy that did the last repair on it.
Reply:Argh! They didn't even get them installed. What a waste. I feel your pain... all too well. I hate boomerang jobs.

Reply:Isn't it funny how everybody wants work to keep coming in. But when something like this happens, even though it's just like a "new" job coming thru the door, once you find out it's a redo, mentally it pisses you off! I've had that happen alot.I was on a job, for a gazillionaire, and the poor concrete guys must have poured every yard of concrete at least twice! Some areas more than that. And they were paid to tear it all out and redo it because the owners didn't like it. Nothing wrong with it other than they changed their minds. The contractor was there forever and made a fortune, but they all couldn't wait to get off that job."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! I sent him over to snag that MIC-4 while tbone wasn't looking!" - duaneb55"I have bought a few of Tbone's things unlike Stick-Man who helps himself" - TozziWelding"Stick-man"

Reply:Well at least look at it this way, it wasn't one of YOUR guys on the forklift the F'd it up..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:I always looked at things like that as job security.

Reply:I guess I understand the urge to say "I did it last time... Somebody else needs to do it now".Hey Stick! My dad (Constuction manager) towards the end of his career built similar for the owner of Consumers in Moline. In this case it was his wife!!! Landscaping was done before construction??? Yea buddy! All the millwork was custom, put it on, take it off many times...She would go through the house in the evening and place "Sticky Notes" everywhere with instructions... Dad thought he was going to need carpenters to boom out of Peoria he had so many drag up.Matt
Reply:Repaired the chambers AGAIN this A.M.After cutting them apart and dressing the ends I put the pressure and soapy water to them..The top and bottom edges had some pinholes in them that I was not going to chace around so I just gave the edges the "Once Over" with some .045 309..Edge after cutting..Note cracks in end..Edges welded..Now it's time to finish these up...AGAIN...One more post.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Front...Rear..It's somewhat of a challenge to weld 5/8" thick material to .060 wall tubing but heck..I'LL try anything twice..They got dropped off and when I was talking to the engineer he stated that the machine was all apart and when they went to get them THAT'S when they discovered the damage..Had to keep the machine out of service for 2 more days and the culprit will be found and dealt with in a swift and just manner..That's what I was told but that's not my department..I get all the fun jobs......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
