hey guys, it has been a really long time since i have been around here but i am once again looking to pick up a welder. this time i want a TIG welder because i already have a MM251 at my parents place -700 miles away- the machine im looking at is the dynasty 200dx.What i want to be able to do is....-run 1/8 6010 and 7018 rod-weld up to 1/4" aluminum with tig -1/8 filler rod--weld up to 1/4 steel/stainless 1/2" from time to time -would like to be able to use 1/8 filleroh ya and i dont expect to be able to weld 1/2 in a single pass....just want to be able to sink enough heat into it to get the weld going.I like to build things for 4x4's and i also want to get back into blacksmithing so building roll cages, forges, aluminum tool boxes, fuel cells all that kind of stuff is what i want to use this for. I have looked at the specs on the machine and my 30A/220V dryer plug should suffice for power and give me enough juice for up to 140
Reply:Yeah sounds like you should be fine. I plan on getting the same machine for similar work as well...HTP Invertig 201Lincoln Idealarc SP250Miller 180 AC StickBy farmall:They should have held the seagull closer to the work, squeezing evenly for best deposition.
Reply:You will love it.I use mine at work plugged into 220 volts, welding 1/4" and more dragging the aircooled torch into remote places. I fitted a CK rotary finger remote to the torch.I use it at home and in the field welding light gauge up to 1/8" plugged into 115 volts. The pulse mode comes in handy welding sheet metal like 22 gauge SS. Only bitch is if you buy the contractor kit, the dial gauges are inconsistant, and the ground clamp is cheesy. If I had to do it again, I would forget the contractor kit, and have my LWS put together the peripherals to my choosing. Like wireless foot pedal, copper or brass ground clamp, Weldtec Wt17 aircooled torch with slimline handle, Victor ball and glass tube flowmeter, and quick disconnect gas fittings. I ditched the standard collet assys for CK shorty gas lens collet bodies and collets.
Reply:I bought the package with the cooler, torch, etc.  It came with a smith flowmeter (ball in the tapered tube style) not a gauge style.  The ground clamp has held up ok.  It's not solid copper.  It's stamped steel with copper jaws.  So yeah.. a little cheaper than what I'd call a "good" clamp.Dynasty200DX w/coolmate1MM210MM VintageESAB miniarc161ltsLincoln AC225Victor O/A, Smith AW1ACutmaster 81IR 2475N7.5FPRage3Jancy USA1019" SBAEAD-200LE
Reply:Have had mine for 3 years kicksass. Build your own cooler if required.Buy the bare bones machine.V.
Reply:hhhmmm well alright i think i might look into buying the little things piece by piece because if im going to be spending the money on a GOOD welder i dont want to have a crappy torch or stinger and tiny little ground cable ect..im a firm believer that you get what you pay for when it comes to tools.
Reply:well its on order!!!!!!!!! so i have to wait till next week probably tuesday before the power supply gets here then im piecing together my own tig torch, foot pedal regs ect ect getting pretty excited!
