hey now.i just wanted to thank you all for helping me with propane & acetylene questions. i ended up picking up a b-tank of acetylene. i got it from a friend of a friend and its about 3/4 full. (cant complain for $30)next im gonna probably get a 40cf tank of 02 or maybe a 60cf. ive pretty much come to terms that as much fun as cutting is, i dont need to cut much of anything right now and if i do its really only sheet metal or 1/8"-1/4" thick stuff that arent long run cuts.so thanks guys for all the help.the grand ol' opry aint so grand anymoremiller maxstar 150sworking on an oxy/acet set up
Reply:Good for you. I think in your situation, you are making the right decision even with the limits due to the size of the cylinder.Oh and $30 for the "B" is a steal! Worth way more than that if you ever move and want to upgrade to the 75cf. I'd have grabbed it at that price just for the trade in value on a larger cylinder. (In fact I've got 3 sitting at the house I picked up for exactly that reason) The cost was less than a fill would have been, and when they are empty, I'll just swap them for something a bit bigger or move to another gas like mix or argon for the small mig rather than tote the bigger cylinder..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan
