( Mostly galvanized metals )I feel I have plateaued at my job, I want to learn and make the big bucks welding But not sure exactly where to start off.Is school worth going through? Or is it throwing time and money away? Any tips or tricks?I want to get my life on track here and be motivated to get up in the morning and go to work.Anything is greatly appreciated!thanks guys.

Reply:If you go to school, realize it is probably only setting you up for an entry level job; which your current job has already done. I would start applying for oil industry helper positions.Dynasty 200DXPassport plus w/ spoolmate 100victor 315c oxy/(act and prop)Miller digital elitemilwaukee power tools
Reply:In any case you need about 6000 worked hours to test for your red seal. Can you invest in yourself? Get a quality tig/stick inverter, also band saw if possible. Practice your plate open roots till you have them down pat. In a couple years go to school for proper pipe training. Get your f3,f4, and red seal and go to Sask., Alberta or B.C. and collect your $70-100 grand a year.
Reply:Continue with your education with mechanical or civil engineering, get a contractors license, hire 5 welders for 400,000/year and hire them out. Make $400,000 for yourself and order materials from the country club(business luncheon--deductible). You can take your SnoKat,W/heater(rented--deductible) and stereo out in the field to check on the frozen wonders making their 80K and referring to you as "Boss man".10 years later you will have 25 welders, one $200K/yer honcho w his own SnoKat and sit on yer ascz in Hawaii checking your account balances and estimating the next contract(stockholders meeting--deductible) and drinking Pina Coladas(somewhat deductible). |
