minimal welding, i know, but its for welding so i still count it. Attached Images
Reply:Nice job man, looks clean n simple. I might just copy your idea
Reply:what is it for?
Reply:Its a tool mainly used for pipeline welding. all its for is a spot to connect ur ground cable to. The pointed part makes contact with the pipe n ur ready to weld

Reply:Great idea on the grasshopper by the way like it a lot
Reply:in retrospect i should have widened the arc on the saddle, this one drops down on six inch and smaller, but 8 and above its real nice. I machined the lead block out of aluminum and bolted it to the frame, the spike steel and is spun on the lathe and tapped in the back, so I should be able to just unbolt the parts and put them on a smaller frame should the need arise.
Reply:The only thing i think i would change would be the point, i would much rather have a brass ball or shoe on the end but if it works good don't change a good thingVantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
Reply:I have no objection to a brass point, I just didnt have any brass when I was making it. My raw material rack is getting a bit slim these days.... as is my firewood stack. both are critical issues.
Reply:well be glad its not for the reason mine has. I just cant seem to get one step ahead of these scrap thieves.Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
Reply:oh man, i cant believe i havent been heisted yet. I used to give scrap to a guy that would troll my block.... I figured he would for sure come back while I was at work and clean up the side of my garage for me. But nothing has ever happened. Theres a big scrap yard out by me with a salvage yard, I usually go there and load up on aluminum and stainless drops from "real" machine shops. Its a good deal.
