I took these pics while at school. I don't know anything about it other than, it is there and I took pics. I do have the exact SS drum for this purpose, I just haven't had the time or experience with SS to do it."Where's Stick man????????" - 7A749"SHHHHHH!! Reply:Great pics of a grill type cooker.....check out bdsdotcom rocky has made a small fortune building fabricated drums for smoking or grilling....I got the large one from him and have won some kcbs competitions......The Big Drum Smoker is the simplest design that does work and cook perfect BBQ....Don't Worry About the MuleLoad the Wagon!Lincoln 305GUnion Carbide TorchDon't Worry About the Mule~Load the Wagon!

Reply:Rocky at Big Drum Smokers has had the Stainless Drums fabricated for his specs since the early ninetys. I dont prefer SS because I can taste something different from SS smoked or  grilled meats. I dont know  what it  is but SS adds something to the meat. Be sure you know what was in them before cooking for the masses.....It could be lethal.....It does matter what was in the Drums if cooking for the public or friends....I dont even like the SS Oven cookers that Old Hickory or Southern Pride makes because they are gas powered and with that the SS I can taste something different everytime compared to the Pure Steel cookers.......Lincoln 305GUnion Carbide TorchDon't Worry About the Mule~Load the Wagon!
Reply:bigdrumsmokersdotcom  is the link to the BDS. You can read his site and learn about  the different metals used for his drum smokers/grills. They work Perfect, as Rocky has engineered the air holes at different spots on  them and it is impossible to burn something up  on them the way they work. Ihave used them at Cookoffs and  never failed to place high with them. Compared to pulling my 6,000# mobile cooker down the road, just throw in the BDS barrel and hit the road....I love the way they cook!Lincoln 305GUnion Carbide TorchDon't Worry About the Mule~Load the Wagon!
Reply:Drum smokers are not difficult to build. The BDS aka UDS has been well documented on the web and not difficult to build. I know because I built one.[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RD1aJoKmk2I&feature=related[/ame]YakdungLast edited by yakdung; 02-15-2012 at 10:40 AM.
Reply:Nobody said anything about difficulty to build.....I tip  my hat to you. All I am saying is Rocky has a company that fabricates and rolls his barrels out of whatever gauge steel the customer orders. NOTHING has been in his barrels, which makes alot of difference. Now do you fabricate or roll your own steel into the size barrel you choose? If you do, you might check with Rocky on  patents that he has doing barrels his way. Anybody can take  a barrel and copy rockys air hole pattern, which is the secret to cooking Perfect every time. It is the air flow, not the genius of building a barrel cooker, with the 2 openings on top, which is not the way to do it, for feeding people. Reply:Yak, after watching your video of the Ugly cooker, it is not  even close to Rockys models. Yes it is close, but none of the air holes are the same, and for instance, mine has 2 levels to put meat on, I  can cook 18 Pork Butts using both levels without burning the meat and there probably is a reason why there arent exact copies to Rockys Trademark BDS Cookers....I think some have already found that out. Close but no Cigar......Lincoln 305GUnion Carbide TorchDon't Worry About the Mule~Load the Wagon!
