hello, can anyone help me how to convert my AC/DC miller ARC welding machine into TIG welding machine, I already have aircooled torch, argon tank and flowmeter, tungsten rod and filler, what do i need more to convert it. I will not use it for aluminum weld instead i will use it for steel only. DO i need to use they call it inverter or HF. Sorry Im just new about in welding especially in TIG. Thanks.

Reply:Farmall, I saw the picture you post its really great hihihi. So its only mean that I can do TIG for low carbon steel without HF or inverter, but i don't understand the mean of DCEN, DO i need to reverse the connection of the + and - , it is mean that i will connect the torch in negative of the arc welding machine and the postive will become the ground pardon me if I'm wrong. I'm not familiar on it. Thanks
Reply:I use a 2 into one connection to combine the tig torch (gas) to the weld cable pig tail that plugs into your weld stinger plug on the machine. That connects your gas supply (torch) to a weld cable for power. You will be using scratch start with DC- (DCEN) (straight) polarity. You need a tig torch with an on/off gas valve on it.You dont have high frequency start on your power supply so you will be only welding steel and or stainless steel with tig via scratch start.Your welder sounds like a transformer based machine, not an inverter based power supply.Last edited by snoeproe; 05-28-2011 at 02:45 PM.JasonLincoln Idealarc 250 stick/tigThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Miller Bobcat 250Torchmate CNC tableThermal Arc Hefty 2Ironworkers Local 720
Reply:My torch is the weldcraft air cooled wp-26v there is a small valve in the body that can control the flow of gas. yes i want to weld in low carbon steel only. Thanks for the information. |
