[SIZE="5"]Hello guys, I have 1st  question regarding oxyacetylene setup. Do I need to open fully the oxygen valve in oxyacetylene. or I can turn it the valve of oxygen a few turns and is enough especially if the oxygen tank is full.  I read somewhere in internet that oxygen should be open fully. Do i need too? This is my 2nd question,I can see also in regulator, written in relief valve says open in 200 psi. Because I have one regulator of oxygen that the oxygen is leak in the relief valve every time I try to open the oxygen valve. Thanks all
Reply:Wide open, valve seats in both directions.
Reply:Yes, open the oxy valve all the way. As Old Skool said the valve seats in the open position as well, taking the high pressure from the cylinder off of the valve packing. If the relief valve on the regulator leaks, then your regulator is faulty. Take it to a repair shop, or replace it.
Reply:Yes it is a double seating valve.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:Thanks for the response guys, I just wondering why they put relief valve and says open in 200 psi, is that mean that the pressure regulator should not exceed 200 psi it will cause the releif valve open and the regulator will damage? One day I open the oxygen tank valve in my work then suddenly its leak in the relief valve, when I check the regulator pressure valve its all the way open. When I see the 200 psi written in relief valve and the oxygen leak on that. I think someone open the oxygen valve and all the way open the pressure regulator valve above 200 psi that cause relief valve to open. I don't know if my opinion is correct. Can anyone give information on me about this. What cause my relief valve to leak? Thanks guys.
Reply:When folks say open the valve a few turns they are really saying a few flicks of the wrist. The actual rotations from closed to open is only about two turns. If you're talking about the pop off valve on the low pressure side of the regulator, it's there to keep you from bowing up the hoses and such."The things that will destroy America are prosperity at any price, peace at any price, safety first instead of duty first, the love of soft living and the get rich quick theory of life." -Theodore Roosevelt
Reply:Yes, the 200 psi setting is to keep you from cranking up your pressure too high and damaging something. If you're running normal pressures ( up to around 40 or 50 psi) and it is leaking, then you have a bad relief valve. If the pressures are way up, near 200, it's doing it's job.
Reply:thanks guys.
Reply:For most benefit, post clear pics of your regs and torch showing make and models so you can be advised to either have the reg rebuilt or if it's a cheapy best replaced.OADoctor, who posts here, has a reputable business rebuilding OA equipment.
Reply:just for fun, try soaping the ox valve when  its open   1/2 way and see if it is letting gas escape...everyone who uses gas cylinders should have an old spray bottle with some dish soap solution  around the equipment anyway..
Reply:I always doing that using foam with soup to check the leak. thanks for all advice and information,
