I've used a Miller 135 for years, having a separate cart that provided for plenty of accessory storage, though cables were merely coiled around the front of the machine. It always bugged me a bit, but the particular arrangment I had was tolerable without a specific cable reel or hook. Recently, I have upgraded to a Miller 212 with the integrated chassis running gear, so the overall package is similar in size to my old cart, but lacks the shelves underneath. Like my old welder, cables are wrapped on the front of the machine, this time by design as Miller added handles intended specifically to hold the cables. I might be a little picky, but I found this far more annoying than hanging them over the top of my old machine. It looks like crap and it can mean bumping settings on the machine that I like to use often, so preserving them is important to me. I looked at the Miller cable stand that is offered for my machine, but it looks terribly basic for such a price and it doesn't do anything for all my other accessories. I set out to find a solution. There are some pretty amazing welding carts out there, but none really rang my bell. (there was one known as the Crazy Cart, you should look it up on YouTube) Well, I tripped over my answer last week, quite literally. I had an old tool chest that I was wondering what to do with when I banged my shin on it. At that moment, it struck me that it was about the same size as the top of my Miller 212 and would easily hold my gloves, copper paddle, wire brush, pliers, nozzle parts, gun liners, a couple of small rolls of mig wire, etc. Now what to do about the cables? Enter the wheel of one wheel barrow. I appreciate his sacrifice. I am now satisfied.I have since painted the cable reels red. This might concern folks partial to Miller Blue, but it's all I can do without sacrificing the heritage of all my old decals and tags. Maybe someday I will refinish the whole box, but it will have to do for now. No fasteners are required with the weight of the box, and it lifts off to access the feeder bay.Last edited by scottybaccus; 03-14-2012 at 03:15 AM.
