Reply:Use the search function. This has been detailed many times here. You'll get more info that way. You have to give more details because the options are innumerable. What type of power supply do you have? How many amps? What other types of machines do you have, if any? What are your intended uses? Are you gonna be welding body panels on cars, or 1/2" steel? You're not gonna get a reliable answer without putting in more.TA Arcmaster 300CM3XMT 304S22P12 suitcase feederX-Treme 12VSOptima pulserTA161SMaxstar 150STLHypertherm PM45OP setupStihl 020AVP, 039, 066 Magnum
Reply:The Thermal Arc 181 is hard to beat for the price. Mig, Stick and lift tig. Not a commercial use machine but depends on how heavy duty you need.
Reply:Like stated about a little more info. How thick of material ? Continuous welding where duty cycle is important ? Miller has the 211 mig machine in the current rebate program. save 10 % when you buy goodies to go with it. This may help get started in needed accessories too. There are a lot of postings on the 211 which is 115 or 230 volt. I like the one I have.

Reply:What's your budget? You've got the power, so your options are endless. Is it single or three phase power? The duty cycle is gonna matter most in terms of machines and pricing. The smaller machines give you some nice max output, but for a very short duty cycle. Hard to beat a used XMT CC/CV with a feeder. Will give you stick, tig and mig capability. The options of expansions to a spool gun and pulse possible. Probably can do sub $2000 range. A Miller Shopmaster is great if you can find one used. With add ons, it's the only machine I know of that will do it all. AC/DC and CC/CV.For a dedicated MIG that can do 1/4" all day, you're looking at a Millermatic 250 series. The old 200 (a 280 amp machine) used is hard to beat. Prob sub $1000 for a 200, $1500ish for the newer 250's used. The old 200 is a favored workhorse with a sweet buttery arc that's hard to beat.Last edited by Drf255; 10-16-2013 at 07:09 AM.TA Arcmaster 300CM3XMT 304S22P12 suitcase feederX-Treme 12VSOptima pulserTA161SMaxstar 150STLHypertherm PM45OP setupStihl 020AVP, 039, 066 Magnum

Reply:The Thermal Arc Fabricator 252I MIG-Tig, is a sweet package. Since you have the power, this will give you the grunt with the ability to venture into DC tig. You can add a spoolgun to do some alum with the built in run-in for sweet alum starts. Reply:Thermal Arc 211i. I really enjoy mine, welds really nice in MIG and stick, haven't tried TIG as I didnt get the TIG gun with mine.
Reply:The cooling cycle is gonna matter most as far as machines and estimating. The smaller machines give you some great max yield, yet for an extremely short obligation cycle.steel fabricators Queensland
Reply:FWIW, I had all intentions of picking up a miller 211 when the LWS got one back in stock, it was 1070 + tax, then saw the thermal arc 211i for 1189 shipped and decided to get it instead, so far I'm glad I did, mig setup was easy and I like the weld I get with it, the arc on stick is soft and smooth. On 220v the duty cycle is higher than I'll ever need I think. I'm pleased with it for the small project I do. Can't comment on TIG function yet, didn't get the tig torch but might order it today so it will be here by the weekend. Good luck with your decision.AC thunderbolt 22542i longevity PlasmaThermal Arc 211i |
