Reply:If you want 300 amps and to do alot of air arcing I dont think a weldnpower is the machine for you. I check craigslist regularly. most are overpriced, but deals come and go quick so be ready. Check local auctions, or maybe rental places that are ready to sell off some of their equipment.- Christian M.C3 Welding & Fabrication - CNC Plasma Cutting-Mobile Welding-Custom welding and fabwww.c3welding.com

Reply:How desperate are you and how far are you willing to drive to get your machine?Searchtempest.com will let you search CL over a large area. You simply put in a search term and distance you are willing to go from your zip code. I usually use "welder" and search the list manually to find items that I might miss otherwise. If you are looking for something specific, then try the model, but the search won't pick it up if the seller doesn't list it exactly the way you put it in. Someone yesterday posted up that nice little Craftsman engine drive for $250 or so and asked opinions on it. You'd miss stuff like that if your search isn't fairly general and you don't stop and look at picts and so on.Then there are places that take trade ins and sell rental gear. You need to be careful because often the stuff is beat on pretty bad if it's a rental. These guys are quite a ways from you, but they have a bunch of used gas and diesel engine drives listed. Several guys here have used them in the past for other things with decent results.http://welding.suttongarten.com/view...ing-equipment?Last is always word of mouth. Ask around every where you go, especially contractors, salvage yards and scrap dealers. I know of at least two or three junk yards that have old engine drives sitting in them. Condition may be questionable, but you never know. I've had people point me to friends and acquaintances who have stuff that I'd have never found if I hadn't asked in the 1st place. My Chiropractor pointed me towards an old guy he knew on a farm who had an anvil for sale, when he found out I was hunting for one last year..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size.
