Reply:It really depends on what type of tools you are using, sockets and wrenches are a pain to deal with.Larger things like grinders, pipe wreches and hammers work best in a bucket. The bags work well for pliers , screwdrvers and such, where a toolbox with socket rails work good for mechanic tools. Maybe one of the rolling cart boxes would work well.Miller xmt304,  Miller S22 p12, Miier Maxstar SD, Miller 252 w 30A, Miller super32p12, Lincoln Ranger 9, Thermal Arc 181I with spoolgun, Hypertherm 10000 ,Smith torches. Reply:My "go bag" transfers from vehicle to vehicle and contains most any tool I might need.  That includes fixing break downs (within reason), or dismantling stuff I find at the scrapper, basically designed for flexibility.  The main bag is a large "Gate Mouth".  It's various handy pockets get the typical "need it all the time" stuff.  1/4" flat head, #2 Phillips, standard needle nose and slip joints, and so on.  The main bag is too big to be very useful to find much, so I went by HF when they had a sale on their small tool bags (they have various sizes).  I bought maybe 7 or so?  Anyway, one has all my socket drive stuff in it.  Ratchets, extensions, universals, whatever.  Another has my standard box end wrenches and sockets (including hex/torx sockets, etc) on rails by drive/style.  Another with metric wrench/sockets.  Another with various screw drivers and anything similar (picks, pry bars, etc).  Another for anything like pliers, adjustable, etc.  You get the point.  All these bags get tossed in the center.  And I have color keyed cords "lashed" about the small bag handles to quickly identify at a glance.  Works great for me, and didn't cost much.
Reply:This is by far the most popular tool bag I've come across over here in the mine maintenance industry. http://www.beehivevinyl.com.au/compo...hive-tool-bags
Reply:I have a couple of bags from these people.  They're expensive, but they have a good warranty and are heavier than anything else I have seen.http://www.vetopropac.com/products
Reply:Used a home depot (husky?) soft bag for my last job. It was about 18" long by 10" wide I think. Held my stinger, tig torch, channel lock, slip joint, vice grips, chipping hammer, two wire brushes, 4.5" grinder, spare discs/wire wheels, paint pens, file, and gloves. It was a tight fit but it was compact and I could set it anywhere. Burned a few holes in it.I'm using a regular bucket now with a lid. Comes in handy whenever I need a quick sit down too.

Reply:Those canvas bucket bags from klein my buddy got one an seems to be a pretty good deal lots of pockets for chippen hammer pens stamp etc.  May look into oneSent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
Reply:Why don't you get a box with a lock on it, and put your bucket in it at the end of the shift? That's what I do when I work a field job. You can get a big ol' plastic box at walmart for 40 bucks.
Reply:I see welder's boxes, and gang boxes go pretty cheap on Craigs list. I've never worked anywhere where my tools weren't insured by the company. If I had to worry about my tools being stolen I'd get a welder's box or small gang box and build a pipe bell to protect the pad lock. Reply:If your looking for a bag I would look into the klein tradesman pro bags. We got several different ones at work, great products. They have a rolling one to witch is nice.PROUD   AMERICAN
Reply:Alot of these boxes are waaayy expensive to me. If you're on a budget you can do what I did. I just put all my stuff in one of these canvas emergency bags from Amazon. 25.00 out the door and it's big enough with a good amount of pockets. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Reply:For you guys using buckets, I make the handles a LOT more comfortable to use by splitting a piece of 1" PVC pipe lengthways, then gluing it around the original skinny one.Originally Posted by shortfuseFor you guys using buckets, I make the handles a LOT more comfortable to use by splitting a piece of 1" PVC pipe lengthways, then gluing it around the original skinny one.
Reply:This sounds absolutely ridiculous but in the coal mines over here, we can't use buckets because they're not rated. You can put grease, rubbish, oil, water, etc in one but not tools.
Reply:Do any of you guys have pics of your buckets ?Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

Reply:I have a vinyl bag that I put hand tools in to carry around and an aluminium tool box I keep on the back of the truck to lock everything up.This is the same as my bag.Last edited by D1cko; 11-05-2013 at 05:55 AM.

Reply:I saw a guy recently had installed a drawer in the bottom of his bucket for little knick knack stuff! I just run some tie wire around the outside at the top of mine and drill some small holes and put some tig wire hangers for a hammer and crescent wrench. I don't have any pics, mine is over 20 years old, too. That drawer sure would come in handy, though. I don't know how many times I've just dumped everything out looking for a collet or stubby cap. You'll want a top for it so you can sit down, too.
Reply:Yea I may go grab a bucket an a bucket bag from home depot that's made by husky Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
Reply:you want the biggest bucket you can find, you need plenty room to get your hood inside.
Reply:Well went an got a bucket an a husky bucket bag an so far I like it .. easy to find stuff an don't have to dig a lot plus it all was only $15 !!Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
Reply:I have a Husky bag and love it. It doesn't replace a metal toolbox for hand tools, but for carrying my welding rods and PPE, for example, it's great.Everlast PA160-STH... and that's about it!
Reply:I usually hang my hood off of my grinder handle or file when I carry it. My leathers are folded on the bottom. My stingers and/or tig torch are coiled on top of that. Miscellaneous crap thrown in, grinder on top of it all. I've got a Stanley box on wheels for when I need more stuff, or if I don't know what I'll need. I dump the bucket into the box and drag everything with me. Going to invest in a big gang box to leave on site eventually. Those bucket bags look handy but there are a lot of smaller pockets I have no use for.
