Reply:I have the 54inch version of the "edge" deck from JD.Cleaned it and lub'd it. Then wife went out to cut the lawn. She came back and said it made a funny noise and smoked.Turned out that one of the pulleys had eaten it's bearings.I thought oh no, John Deere is going to want a fortune for a new one. Maybe should check to see if I can replace the bearing.Thought I would drop by JD and check the price of the pulley anyway.Colour me shocked when the parts guy told me the pulley was $11.53 plus tax. I bought two as my deck had two and if one was going the other wouldn't be far behind.Twenty minutes to put them both on and my wife is back in business mowing.......If mama ain't happy, nobody's happy.Glenn.Sign on East Texas payphone: Calls to God 40 cents......it's a local call...
