Have a Hobart Portable, Model G213, with a Wisconsin 2 cyl. can't get it to excite the engine when arc is struck. Any ideas on where to start looking would be appreciated. Marc
Reply:And you can actually strike an arc? My first thought would be a bad ground. Secondly, my Hobart with a Kolher 23 hp there is a switch reading Idle, Run (for generator), and Run/Idle for welding. Could you have the switch in the wrong position. Welcome!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Reply:Thanks for the reply. Yes I have the switch in the run/Idle position. Can weld with it in High Idle, did try switching everything too. I'm assuming the welder itself must speed up the engine, as there isn't anything hooked to the throttle on the carb. Seems strange. Don't know how it could speed up the engine without that. I'm looking for a welder guru to slap me and say, look, this is the solution, or you have overlooked this, ect.
Reply:The welder has an exciter that triggers the PC board to set the engine to high rpms. Them if you stop a time delay times out and tell the PC board to set engine to idle.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Reply:Thank you. Is there anything I can do to get it back on track, or to work again? Where would I find the PC board?
