swmbo as agreed to me having another aquarium but will need to build stand so one sits below other.they are both 30"lx12"wx15"d.how do i work out size steel i need to hold two tanks, and as anyone built similar that can show me pics pls?cheers
Reply:Those are what, 30g tanks? Figure on making sure the stand can support at least double the expected weight of the tank filled with water, rock/sand. I've got a 100g cube I built a stand for out of wood. Steel would be nice for sure but no way I'm going to disassemble the setup to convert to a steel stand at this point!Hobart EZ-Tig newbie.
Reply:Here is a stand I made from 1.5" square tube 14 gauge. This was for a 120 gallon aquarium. I would think this size material would be more than enough for what you are doing. Attached Images
Reply:Heres one that I made. I used inch and a half angle for the rails, and than tied the bottom together with tube. I measured to put the 2 18x18 inch tiles under it for storage and to match the rest of the furniture. The tiles are cheap ( like $3.00) a piece and I can put any color in to match whatever is in the room. The aquarium is a 50 gal. I think. I have made a few things with the changeable tile idea and it has all turned out well.Just a few ideas, hope it helps! Attached Images |
