I thought this would be interesting in response to the thread "building more farm equipment".  It's made for larger tractors, and different applications.  Y'all who've been here for a while probably remember it, but the newer folks probably never saw it.I need a set of forks capable of moving large trees, and piling them for later burning.  In addition I didn't want the limbs/branches coming thru my radiator as would happen with a front end loader type of setup.  I like to be as far away from the action as possible Fully articulated. And made to keep the trees as far as possible from the operator (me  )With enough robustness (if that's a word) to push a lot of weight when stacking or pushing a pile. Some more to follow.............."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:I built this with safety in mind.Burning cedar trees is dangerous business.  A large pile is a recipe for starting a wildfire when the embers blow.  A smaller fire, slowly fed, is more sane.A small manageable fire is started, then fed with a little bit of fuel at a whack. The long reach protects the tractor/operator, and the new fuel shields the hydraulics from excessive heat while the forks are extracted. On a larger fire you can feel the heat thru the rear window of the cab.  It gets pretty intense, but it's the safest way to do it.  I burn trees up to about 20+ feet in height/length this way."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Great IdeaYou need a hotty firewomen helping to make it perfect. My folks have 90 acres of wooded land with a few acres of hay field. I burn the dead treesand cut filth in the winter. Mom likes her woods to appear clean nothing dead laying around. You have given me an idea of something to build on a much smaller scale. Thanksand burn safeDave ReberWadsworth Ohio
Reply:when we cleared the land for building our house the neighbor used his excavator to stoke the scrap pile.  I like your design better. There are no problems. There are only solutions. It's your duty to determine the right one.Hobart Handler 210Airco 225 Amp MSM Stinger
Reply:Jeez farmersamm... you lucky B8st*rd.  You get to design, layout, weld, fit hydraulics and then play with it in the fire too!  Boy, you got it good! Rick V 1 Airco Heliwelder 3A/DDR3 CTC 70/90 amp Stick/Tig Inverters in Parallel1 Lincoln MIG PAK 151 Oxy-Acet

Thankfully the guys at work that I build stuff for have yet to discover weldingweb...or i guarantee i would be copying thatIf you cant fix it with a hammer, it must be an electrical problem."Boy, everyone starts with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience.
