Hope all had a great Thanksgiving. I have come across a 1/2" x 2' x3 ' plate steel that has uniform dimples on one side and the other side are round knobs formed when the dimples were pressed. What are the possible uses for this plate. The dimples are formed in rows 1 1/2" o/c. Great piece just don't know what was used for. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Reply:I don't understand why, I described a piece of 1/2" x 2' x 3' sheet of steel that on on side are round dimple formed by a press and on the opposite side, when the dimples were pressed, is raised 1/4" high knobs. The dimples are in rows spaced approximately 1 1/2" o/c. I personally feel like it's boiler plate. I apologize if this description doesn't make since, but it's the only way I know to describe it. I f could I would have provided pictures, but at the time I count not. These " dimples" are round pressed into a flat sheet of 1/2" steel and when the dimple was ford on one side ( female dimples) aligned 1 1/2" o/c, they formed a male knob on the opposite side. That's the best I can do. SorrySent from my iPhone using TapatalkLast edited by papasmirf; 12-01-2013 at 07:42 AM.
Reply:One use is a bearing plate. The dimples prevent lube from just squeezing right out."USMCPOP" First-born son: KIA Iraq 1/26/05Syncrowave 250 w/ Coolmate 3Dialarc 250, Idealarc 250SP-175 +Firepower TIG 160S (gave the TA 161 STL to the son)Lincwelder AC180C (1952)Victor & Smith O/A torchesMiller spot welder

Reply:Okay, I'll say it: "Uncle" Now what's "bridge plating? A mill product, I presume? What's a typical application?(Don't even try: "plating bridges" )What sizes are available?Tread plate (diamond plate) doesn't typically have indents on the back side, what's with bridge-plating? Is the pattern forged or stamped rather than rolled? Burpee - How thick is the stuff you posted? What's the back look like?Last edited by denrep; 12-01-2013 at 09:59 PM.
