So I'm in the market for a new (good) pair of work boots. I'd like to stay in the $150 - $200. range. I'm big on having an internal metatarsal guard and composite toe. Outside of that I'm just shooting in the dark. Red Wing makes what looks like a good boot (I think its a 4421) but I can't find anywhere to try on a pair. Anyway- What's the best pair of work boots you've had?GizzmoSyncrowave 250 CK aircooled tig
Reply:I use Red wing logger boots. Never have feet problems. I'm on my feet for 15 hrs a day or longer. Great boot. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk

Reply:The best boots I ever Had were more than three times 200 they were custom made in Spokan Washinton. I used them for eight years and then they walked off. I've never paid that much for a boot sence but I've paid more for Boots at about 200 per year. lets see eight years that comes to 1600.HH140MM200

Reply:As a potential alternate to the Redwing, Keen produces a US made workboot called the Portland. I have 2 pairs of low top shoes made by them, and they are GREAT! I haven't worn a pair of shoes that I really had anything to say about one way or another since my mid 90's Asolo hiking shoes, until I got the Keen shoes I use now.Miller Dynasty 200 DXMiller CP-300 with 30A feederHypertherm Powermax 900Oxy-fuel w/Harris torchesScotchman Glide-in bandsawMonarch 10EE latheEmi-Mec Autoturn latheDeckel FP2NC milling machinePro-Tools 105 Bender

Reply:Keens are the most comfortable for me, Danner next, Redwings after that. I do not have steel toes, although the keens advertise a composite toe that is protected by a rubber outer cap. Steel toes wear out in a month if you spend time on your knees, like if your'e married. If you don't need them for requirements, I would not get steel toes.
Reply:Blackbeard- I've had the same problem with soles breaking on the Wolverines and they are on the heavy side .I'll check out the Keens next, thxGizzmoSyncrowave 250 CK aircooled tig
Reply:I wear the red wing pecos good boots and this model is still made here
Reply:I wear red wings waterproof that way I an walk through water snow mud ect. After a couple of years they start to wear and give me back problems so I get another par and I am good . Good luck
Reply:Logger boots from red wing cost me 80 dollars to have new rubber put on them and they last me about a year in a half. They do a nice job . Nice thing is you can buy them and wear them for a month or so and if you don't like them they will find something that works for you. Everyone is different and everyone has a best. I agree Weld one , no back pain and I would rather wear these boots than my Nikes. And if you are on ladders a lot they have fiberglass shanks which are life savers.Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
Reply:I wear Double H work boots. I get 2 years out of them. I can put them on right out of the box and wear them for 10 hrs straight at work. I have plantar facitis and these boots have helped a bunch.
Reply:Chippewas for me as well. But like Red Wings, you have to pay attention to which models are made in USA.
Reply:Danners Acadias steel toe. 4 years old. on their 4th sole and 2nd rubber toe caps. Current sole is custom modified solid rubber, no midsole from another danner boot. Constantly stepping in diesel for work and it ate the midsoles in a few months. Been on this sole for over 2 years now. Danner service called me last time they were in for re-work and said they thought they had a better solution for me. Cannot beat that service. Downside: almost 3lb each.
Reply:I made the switch from Redwing to Thorohgood [sp] and I purchase from http://www.allamericanclothing.com/m.../footwear.htmlThey are made in USA and every bit as good as the Redwings I used to buy. My style of Redwing is now made in China, which I will never buy again. I wear Danners for hiking/hunting, but thorogoods for work every day.Allamerican clothing has a great return policy and so far I love their jeans, shirts and boots. I am a complete A-Hole when it comes to buying American, I literally do not own a foreign made shoe, sock or pair of pants/shorts.
Reply:http://shop.timberland.com/product/i...ductId=4208277 I like this timberland pro met guards. My feet are really picky, they have been always since I can remember. If they don't fit right my feet get so sore I limp in pain. I've had them for 8 months and they are still comfortable. took a month to break in but it was worth walking around like Frankenstein for a while. A co-worker of mine had Dakotas with the met guard and he breaks his laces once a week because the eyelets are sharp. These boots have smooth eyelets and they protect the laces so well im on the original pair. I used to burn the nylon laces out of a new pair of boots the first day. I had a different style of timberland pros before without the met guard and I put up with burning the tops of my feet and the inside of my toes for a year before I made the change to the met guards. I use the old pair with dr sholls custom insets for quadding and yard work. This is my first one with the plate and I don't think ill ever buy a different pairNothing Ever Got Done By Quitting, Never Give Up.
Reply:I wore Redwing for years, last year a coworker suggested I try Carolina boots. I have been wearing for almost 1 1/2 years now and they are very comfortable. I have an insulated version for winter time, cold weather wear. they are a logger style.
Reply:Redwings made in USAIrish Setters, a Redwing brand, made in China.Which Redwing style is made in China?...I wasn't aware they made any Redwings there.I've worn Redwings for the past 50 years or so, and will continue to do so in the future!

Reply:Whites or Hathorn are the absolute best imo. I know they are out of the op's price range, but worth it in the long run. You can send them back and they will rebuild any part of them except the uppers.(Hint- used pairs are abundant on ebay)HH 210 MVPHypertherm Powermax 45300 sqft shop but it works.
