Millermatic 210 vs 250

There are 2 mig welders for sale in my local area. The first is a Miller 210 which is a much newer appearing machine.   The guy was asking 1200 for it, then 1000 on eBay for which he got no bids.  The machine appears to be in great condition, but I can buy a brand new Miller 211 for $980 on eBay.  He may come down in price, and it comes with no tank.The second is a Miller 250 that comes with an extra gun (I don't know if one is spool but I doubt) and a tank that stands around 5' tall.  The machine is definitely pretty well used by appearance.  It may even come with another tank.  The guy was asking 1500 on CL, and now it's on eBay with no reserve and a highest bid of $5.  it's a local pickup only item.  I've read alot of bad things about the 250.  What do you guys think?TA Arcmaster 300CM3XMT 304S22P12 suitcase feederX-Treme 12VSOptima pulserTA161SMaxstar 150STLHypertherm PM45OP setupStihl 020AVP, 039, 066 Magnum

Reply:For home hobbyist use it may not matter, but I though I might as well mention that the Millermatic 210 is a more robust unit then the Millermatic 211. Meaning the Millermatic 210 offers more top end power, The 210 also offers a significant increase in the area of duty cycle. The wire drive used on the 210 will also handle a 15' gun length.7 V taps (MM210) VS variable voltage (MM 211) equals advantage to MM 211 in this area.A Millermatic 200 is a 20+ year old unit. If I were going to go the used route, I'd look for something newer. In a Millermatic, the Millermatic 251 is a very good unit. The arc is a little to soft for me, but it is still a very nice performing unit.If you are wanting a 250 + amp unit, ESAB's Migmaster 250 would be another used unit to be looking for. The Migmaster 250 is a very good performing unit. The unit produces a a very good short circuit transfer arc.
