Hi everyone,My name is Craig and I am a begining welder. I just purchased a Lincoln Invertec V205 AC/DC Welder with a Tigmate 20 watercooled starter kit and a Lincoln cool arc water cooler.I purchased this machine to weld thin wall 6061 aluminum tubing.Connecting the torch to the machine isnt working, because the K1622-4 adapter has only one water line and one gas line, there is no return water line coming out of the adapter. The torch has 3 hoses and what I'm plugging it into has 2. I'm trying to put a square peg into a round hole. The instructions that came with the starter kit shows the twist lock adapter having 3 connections. What am I missing?
Reply:the return goes into the water supply bucket/tank--or if you use tap water, can be dumped into yard/street/sewer
Reply:Thank you PropDoc,I finally found a phone number to Lincoln. I called and they informed me to take the twist lock apart and the missing fitting was inside of it. They told me that they get several phone calls a day about it. Nothing in any instructions ANYWHERE about it!
Reply:Prob solved!!!!After what seemed to be an eternity of looking around on the lincoln web site I finally found a phone number and a live person. After a couple different numbers and a long wait in the queue I had my answer. There is a hidden fitting inside of the twist lock. You must take the twist lock apart to find it. There is nothing in the instructions of any of the manuals, and I couldnt find anything on the lincoln site either. The lincoln rep said that they receive several phone calls a day on this problem.
Reply:Rattletrap,Not sure but sounds like you're trying to use an air cooled torch adapter on a water cooled torch. You may want to check out Weldcraft's website for a detailed explanation of the hookup.Basically, the torch is hooked up as follows.Smaller water hose (left hand threads) connects to the cooler (supply line-water out). The gas line connects to your tig machine. The larger water line (power and return water flow) attaches to the adapter which plugs into you tig machine. That adapter also has a return water line attached which goes back to the cooler (water in). Often times, if the cooler is not very close to the tig, you will have to add a short length of hose to reach the cooler. Water lines (supply and return) are left hand threads and are designated by notches on the nuts.Does the Lincoln use standard dinse connections for hookup?Syncro 250 DX Dynasty 200 DXMM 251 w/30A SG XMT 304 w/714 Feeder & Optima PulserHH187Dialarc 250 AC/DCHypertherm PM 1250Smith, Harris, Victor O/ASmith and Thermco Gas MixersAccess to a full fab shop with CNC Plasma, Water Jet, etc.
Reply:I'll try to answer this best I can for those that search out this thread at a latter date. Lincoln uses a gas pass through Dinse connector. For standard air cooled torches, you need a K1622-1 adapter/connector. This adapts your tig torch to the Lincoln machines with gas pass through like the Invertec V-205 or Precision Tig 225. If you are using a water cooled torch, you need a K1622-4 adapter/connector. This adapter has a nut on the end that can be loosened, which allows the cover to split in half, then you hook up your torch connections. The adapter has a pig-tail that comes off of it. This pig-tail hooks up to your water coolers return connector (5/8" LH) The gas connection and the water return/power lead connection are in the plastic housing of the adapter. Your water supply line to the torch hooks up directly to the cooler. I will take a photo of my setup, with a Bernard Cooler, and add it to this thread.BretRanger 250 * Invertec V205-T * Invertec V275-S * Precision Tig 225 * Power Mig 300 w/ Python Push/Pull Pro-Cut 25 Plasma * Millermatic 150 * Hobart Handler 175 * Bernard 3060 Tig Cooler Everlast LG-80E Plasma Cutter * Henrob 2000

Reply:I almost forgot this one!The water is supplied from the cooler to the Blue line. Water travels from the Blue line to the torch head. Water then travels out of torch head through the Red line. It then passes through the adapter, and back to the return of the cooler. Your power is also fed through the Red line. The gas travels through the machine, then through the gas pass through connector, then through the black braided line to the torch.Bret Attached ImagesRanger 250 * Invertec V205-T * Invertec V275-S * Precision Tig 225 * Power Mig 300 w/ Python Push/Pull Pro-Cut 25 Plasma * Millermatic 150 * Hobart Handler 175 * Bernard 3060 Tig Cooler Everlast LG-80E Plasma Cutter * Henrob 2000
