Customer had this Flat bed trailer that he wanted to be able to haul a loader of his on it.  Pics don't show a lot of details but does show the progression of what I did.  All frame welds were made with a miller dialarc and 1/8" 7018.  The ramps were with a Lincoln Powermig 255 using .035 70S-6 shielded by 80/20.here is the trailer as it showed up.Next I started on the ramps.  These were 6" channel with 3/8"X2" angle cross members with 1"X1" bar across the tops for traction.Next I built the dovetail.  Used 12" Beam with 8" channel around the exterior to match the existing frame.  4" channel was used as the cross membersCovering the deck with 1/4" floor plate with some 1"X1" bar for tractionCompleted dovetail with ramps.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:Always liked looking at your work, I work in a boiler shop, so I don't get into much fabrication.  Usually just boiler repairs or pipe work.  Nice to see something different.Last edited by Newfie_1986; 05-13-2012 at 10:19 PM.Journeyman / Red Seal Welder (What a useless test)Miller CST 280Miller XMT 350Miller 12vs XtremeEvolution Evo 28 mag drillEvolution 380 Dry Cut saw
Reply:cool dovetail. nice work.
Reply:He'll especially appreciate the spring assist on the ramps.  Nice touch.
Reply:Looks good. One question, are you going to burn holes for the tail lights and blinker's or will they be externally mounted. Good luck God speed Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk 2
Reply:One more question, I am assuming that is rather a 43 or 45 foot split-axle trailer. So after adding the additional footage to the rear like that is your friend going to re-register it as the actual length.   I know the DOT is pisser to deal with. Especially if things don't add up. Reply:glad to see you back. great job.
Reply:Glock, The customer mounter the lights himself.  They did cut out hole for the lights to mount into on the back channel.  it was a 45 ft trailer, and I do believe he had to do some DOT paperwork on it, but not sure what exactly he did.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......

Reply:Looks good.I sometimes wish I had a dovetail, but I cross too many creek bottoms to be able to have one, real easy to get hung up.For ease of loading this is far superior to my pin-on ramps."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
