Just curious what wire should be used for chromoly (4130). I've heard that ER70S-6 shouldn't be used. I know many will say TIG is the preferred method, but I was just wondering what is recommendedfor MIG.ThanksMiller Synchrowave 180 SDLincoln PowerMig 255Hypertherm Powermax 45Torchmate 2x2Victor O/A

Reply:if you are getting the part heat treated(normalized or hardened) post welding use 4130 filler,if you can preheat and post heat the part you could use er80 filler.seeing as they're spindles i would suggest getting them tig welded with 4130 filler and then normalized.
