Reply:nice no suggestions but maybe make an extendable arm or folding part of the table so you can make it about 3 or f0ur foot longer if need beQuality is our policy.
Reply:yes I do plan on that also....I have some 1 1/4" 11 gauge tube I want to weld to the bottom of the table but after I get the legs figured out. Also some of my pics of my table designed in solidworks before I started building. Attached Images
Reply:Great looking saw table. Are you going to add a chip catcher/chute to it? Reply:That saw stand is awesome. How are those evolution blades working for you? Ive had to return two for all the teeth shattering off.
Reply:Nice work Cym, gotta love Solidworks, especially the weldment portion!!! I have been tinkering with a similiar idea for a while, but want to make the saw head pivot so the material doesn't need to be swung around the whole shop. Getting stuck at the part where I need to figure out what to do with the area that the blade will encounter. Thinking that the whole assembly will need to be mounted to a circle and pivot as an assembly. I think with your setup you will have a great way to fixture oddball items and make stops etc etc. Thanks for taking the time to share the pics. Reply:Nice work there!  I'm with Coupe on figuring out a way to do miter cuts.  That blade will need to go somewhere.  Mabye you could keep the movement to 45 degrees, as anything bigger than that angle can get funky with a chop saw.  Regardless, my idea would be to cut a void into the base material where the blade would go.  After you've got all of your edges cleaned up, you could weld a few strips of flat bar across the angles of the new hole, on the underside of the base material.  The flat bar will serve to support the chunk of material you cut from the base material, when you set it back in place after you set your saw back to do 90 degree cuts (I do more 90s than angle cuts).  You could drill a couple finger-sized holes in the removeable chunk of material, to make it easier to remove / replace it.  Of course, position the flat bar supports so the blade doesn't interfere with them.-AaronJet 17.5" Drill Press1942 South Bend 16x84 Lathe1980s Miller 320A / BP --- 2013 Power Mig 2562012 Jet 7x12 Horizontal BandsawVictor O/A Setup
Reply:Canoe2fishYes I have considered a chute for under the saw blade like a heating and cooling duct to drop into a 5gallon bucket. And yes just the top weighs over 100lbs I used a heavier 3" c-channel and a 3/8" plate  Jon KI got the plate for the saw table at Samson metals here in Lakeland. The table top plate I havent got it yet but, have priced it at Ryersons Steel here in Tampa Fl....cheaper than some smaller steel suppliers but they have a 250 dollar minimum though shouldn't be a problem for a 4x8 sheet.CoupebuilderI was tossing around the idea to put another movable fence on the right side of the blade really not sure of that though.....also thought about a swivel base but I do not have that kind of accuracy ability in my shop. But if the base material rotated with the blade then you wouldn't need to cut out a section.........same design as a compound slide miter saw setup. I would love for someone to make one of these with a big 14" blade made specifically for steel work no cheap aluminum bases.... heavy duty steel..... think cold saw but with all the bells and whistles of  compound slide miter saw........oh and cheap please!!Jimmy_popThe saw blade was doing good UNTIL I was being stupid and unsafe and it kicked back.... chipped a tooth and broke off another  and bent the tooth mount. Thus the new saw table.......way more options for clamping. Think I am going to try a Diablo blade everyone seems to love them.
Reply:Jimmy_popWho did you send your blades to for replacement...Evolution?....and did they send you a new one? Or distributor from where you purchased? Any questions or problems with returns etc etc.
