Hey guys - my work was scrapping TONS of wire.  This is just a SAMPLE of what I have.Wire by Jon Kensy, on FlickrWire by Jon Kensy, on FlickrI salvaged all the PTFE two and three conductor cable, 18, 20, 22 gauge.  This stuff is seriously expensive!  I work for a defense contractor who scrapped any wire/braiding/heatshrink that did not have a trace ID.  Seriously they scrapped so much good stuff.  I have about another 6 - 8 rolls in addition to what is shown in my trunk.Anyway I am trying to think of a non-invasive way of storing this.  A horizontal rack would be great but big, ultimately expensive, and in the way.  I was thinking of a vertical rack maybe?  The spools are at the smallest, 3/4" ID so a 3/4" rod or 5/8" rod would hold them well.I figured someone guys on here do wire and mig wire so, what do you suggest? Thanks!JonMiller Diversion 180Hobart Handler 140 (Soon to be replaced with Miller 211?)Miller Spectrum 625 Extreme
Reply:Hey Jon ,are you keeping this ?or will you be scrapping it for cash? does it have to be portable ? i made a wire rack for my stepbrother who puts in irrigation systems and he mounted it to the floor of a van . i made it out of 2x2 sq. tube welded it vertically  to a piece of 8x8 x 1/4" plate that bolted to the floor and welded a couple of shorter pieces horizontally with 1/2 in black plumbing pipe that the spools of wire hung on . this was just for storage and being organized . i am sure you have seen those wire dollies that you can buy they do the job but look pretty flimsy. i work for a company that throws allot of good stuff away they would rather pay to have it hauled off than let us have it or buy it from them .if it were me i would make a wire stripping machine that strips the insulation off and you have good clean copper scrap to sell ! "good money in that stuff these days " good luck let me know if i can help . Chris
