Hey everyone!!So, this is my latest project... A buddy of mine is fixing up this old MF 1135 to start growing grain with, and it needs, among other things, a new exhaust and a transmission rebuild. So, the other day he stopped by here and we welded up a replacement exhaust, and then a day later, he stopped by again and we took the tractor about 20 miles from the farm. Was about a two hour trip, condensed into 19 mins for YouTube, lol.But anyway, here it is. The pipe itself is 3.5", and instead of bending it, we cut 22.5 degree miters and welded it up. Its all phil's design anyway, he just kind of went to town and I just did the welding. lol. We figured that the miter cuts would reduce the flow of the exhaust, but he's not too worried about that because running a straightpipe-instead of a muffler like it originally had, should compensate for that.At first I tigged it up using .035 Lincoln L56 SuperArc mig wire as filler, but then I ran out of Argon and migged the rest. That wasn't as pretty... But hey, this is my first time welding up exhaust :/But anyway, we got it fitted up, welded out, and bolted down, and then painted everything with some High-Heat BBQ Paint left over from when I built the Smoker. I think it turned out really well!! Phil sure like it!!Anyway, this is what I've been working on here lately, just thought I'd share. Hope everyone's having a good (almost) weekend!! Reply:Usually a good idea to "cure" the high-heat paint on there via some cycles similar to that of the VHT ultra high temp header paint.Hobart EZ-Tig newbie.
Reply:Yeah, I know. The can recommends giving it an hour to dry, and then baking it on at operating temperature for atleast another hour. So, we painted it once (mostly just the stack) the night that we made the exhaust, and then gave everythig a second coat before the drive...[Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. Reply:I think I've run maybe 3 MIG welds my entire life Just isn't my thing, I can't seem to wrap my noggin around pushing instead of dragging "Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:If that old Massey has a Perkins, it's one of the strongest motors ever built.  Got one in my Oliver, and it's bulletproof."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Little word to the wise...........If you ever go to an auction, and see a smaller  tractor with duals, don't buy it.  It's probably pulled hard in it's lifetime.  The duals are used for extra traction, and sometimes filled with calcium chloride for additional weight (a bad practice).  It's a common practice to overload these smaller 100hp range machines."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Thanks Samm!! Its a way cool machine. And yes, it does have calcium in the tires, and one rim is rotted through and leaking everywhere But yeah, its got a Perkins!! A turbo too, theres plenty of exhaust clips in that tractor drive video. I like mig welding, just... Need more practice with thin materials...[Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. See you on YouTube! -ChuckE2009
Reply:Cool Lanse, love your tractor videos. Good job, and good stuff. Still got your kubota?  I hate being bi-polar it's awsomeMy Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys
Reply:My neighbour has that very same model and it has about 14,000 hours on it now . I lost a good part of my hearing in my youth running an earlier version an 1130 . I could not believe it did not grind a ound or 2 when ever you shifted . the other part with those models was the black smoke from the exhaust . The 1130 looked like a tire fire when it was pulling hard .Loved the videos !
Reply:I just sold a 165 that looked like a locamotive when I was working it hard, I miss that ol girl !I hate being bi-polar it's awsomeMy Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys
Reply:heres my old massey 65 with my daughter . it has a perkins and still runs pretty strong, I have a newer 2006 ford . the tires are filled with a citris anti freeze thats not supose to corrode the rims..time will tell.Last edited by roadkillbobb; 07-31-2012 at 03:38 PM.Of all the things I lost I miss my mind the most...I know just enough about everything to be dangerous......You cant cure stupid..only kill it...
