I found an articulating Fume Extractor arm on CL for $40 and decided that I could use it to remove welding fumes so that I can work in the house when I need to in the winter. I've had this blower kicking around for some time and decided that it was time to put it to use again so I made this cube on wheels to sit it in. Got it all put together this week and painted up, now I'm ready to go... WooHoo   Heres a few fotos showing those fluxcore welds of pathos and can ya tell that Tremclad rattle cans were on sale this week?   Add a couple of hoses, she's done. Those 'ol bedframes sure come in handy, too. Attached ImagesLast edited by bearston; 05-27-2012 at 10:48 PM.
Reply:Nice work man! Very impressed!
Reply:Very nice job, sure wish I thought of something like before I scraped the blower I had, it was just like yours. Well I guess you can't think of everything or keep everything either!
Reply:U got a STEAL on that arm! I have a similar plymovent arm; $1200.00!!!
Reply:looks like you connected the fumesucker hose to the top of the fan volute. i think the hole in the side is the intended air inlet. better blank it off or the only thing that will suck is the way this extractor operates...

Reply:Great find. The arm being positioned over the center of the fan does not neccesarily mean he will be connecting it to the discharge. There's enough room for a flex connector and a reducer fitting to make it work by the looks of it - but its going to be tight and will restrict flow IMO. I suggest relocating the arm to one side and using a sheet metal elbow, reducer and flexible boot to make it work betterLast edited by Canoe2fish; 05-28-2012 at 07:44 AM.Thermal Arc Fabricator 2101970 Lincoln RedfaceMiller 150 STLStill need a Syncrowave and a plasma and a milling machine and a lathe and a bigger shop and a....
