I was wondering if cutting T1 steel with a cutting torch will alter its properties effecting the strength. I'm building a tree sheer which will be subject to a lot of stress.
Reply:I'am not an expert in T1 steel but I think the T1 is not hardened by quench. It's more the content of the steel that make it very tough and abrasion resistant(chrome / manganese). I know lot of people cutting T1 by torch.http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=48951
