Been doing some fencing, and dear sweet Kelly has been getting real tired.  It's difficult to run out a few hundred feet of barbed wire off the roll.  I encourage her from the sidelines....."C'mon hon, you can do it, just a few feet further, just think what it's doin' for your thighs".  Got this thing I built about a million yrs ago for moving gooseneck and bumper pull trailers. So I decided, in the interest of domestic bliss, that I ought to make something to unroll wire.  Started off with a little cutting. And attached the threaded end of a 1" bolt to some 1" cold roll.  I like to use bolts where there's gonna be some torque on the nut.  I don't like threading mild steel for this.Beveled, and buttered.Ready for the next step."Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Next, the spindle is welded up thru the round piece of plate. Two tabs are welded to the underside to help hold it while tightening the bolt while mounting it on the tractor, and to keep it from turning should the bolt come loose. We at Uranis Inc. think of everything Bolt it on the tractor.Load up some wire.  The small plate riding on top of the roll of barbed wire is to keep the roll on the spindle should I encounter rough ground or hilly terrain.  It slides freely up and down. The top washer is held from sliding down the spindle by two little spot welds.  I know you machinist types woulda turned a shoulder.................BUT THIS IS OKLAHOMA Guess the only thigh exercise Kelly's gonna get is maybe now pulling the tractor "Any day above ground is a good day"http://www.farmersamm.com/
Reply:Good job, Samm!!! And I'll bet Kelly really appreciates it. Been there, done that. I've built some that sit in a P/U stake pocket.                                         MikeOl' Stonebreaker  "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw
Reply:Nice and simple. I like it. Probaly not as much as Kelly though If you cant fix it with a hammer, it must be an electrical problem."Boy, everyone starts with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience.
