A buddy of mine referred me to another shop. A stingray (62 I think) block got cracked while changing the starter. They must have lost the original short bolt, or smacked it with a hammer or something, but the outer mounting ear was cracked through on both sides. It was bad and deep enough I decided to remove it completely, and rebuild the ear from scratch. I picked up some NI-99 rod and got to work. I think around ~150A wide open, lots of short passes and lots of peening. I added about ~1/16" meat all around the bolt hole so it won't happen again (hopefully). Drilling and tapping 99% nickle isn't much fun. I didn't take pictures along the way, it was a very rushed job. At the very end, I had to make a starter support bracket, and didn't have any welders with me, so I did what I could with clamps and a hammer.
