I am about to build a trailer frame for my teardrop trailer. And since I just started welding with TIG ( about 2 hours seat time), I bought some test material to try out before I actually built it.The funk on there is from my glove. I wiped it when it was still hot.Millermatic 211PowerPlasma 50s

Reply:Might be new to Tig but you surely have some welding experience. The welds aren't bad by any means. Maybe a little high on the heat and the bead size isn't consistent. The weld on the flat is a little sunk it looks like. Also the tungsten stick out that is visable in the same picture would be a little long for me when welding on the flat. Wrap the weld around the corners or tie back into the start of the weld when coming around full circle.

Reply:I wish my first steel tig welds looked anywhere near that nice. You can definitely tig the trailer together, but I would say that most of us are in too big a hurry to finish the job to spend all that time tigging steel. I would either stick or mig weld something like that just to get it done.Miller Syncrowave 350Millermatic 252/ 30A spoolgunMiller Bobcat 225g w/ 3545 spoolgunLincoln PowerArc4000Lincoln 175 Mig Lincoln 135 Mig Everlast 250EX TigCentury ac/dc 230 amp stickVictor O/AHypertherm 1000 plasma
Reply:I would say turn the heat up some, move faster, and use more filler, but not a bad start. I will leave the flaming to the pros at such work.Dynasty 200DXPassport plus w/ spoolmate 100victor 315c oxy/(act and prop)Miller digital elitemilwaukee power tools
Reply:I might be tempted to save some time. Buy some 3/32" 7018, turn the gas off, set to 100 amps, and insert the welding rod into the end of the TIG torch. But I'm just a bit nutty like that. .........water cooled torch?
Reply:care to give some other welding background besides 2 hrs of hood time on tig? I don't do tig so I wont comment on the welds. Just seems to me that there is more background than indicated in the original post. There are no problems. There are only solutions.
