i been going to a high school voca for welding, i know how to stick weld pretty good i got certifited last year at a comp. for 7018 3/4 3g and 4g, i know how to mig weld but im just not to into it, i just started to play around with the tig welder im not going to brag about im pretty good at welding stanless steel and low carbon steel, my question that im getting to is how do i go about getting a tig welding job that pays good i would love a tig pipe welding job cause i love the challange , what kind of unions are there for tig pipe, ho much does it pay, is stick welding a better path than tig welding, and what is a common machine that most tig use. lot of questions but i cant find anything or google or bing and not to people in my area that i know , know the questions that i ask
Reply:I can't really answer any of your questions other than to say it depends on the particular region.  I will suggest you learn all processes and become proficient in all of them to be as "marketable" as you can be.  Even any process(es) that you might not be "too into". Reply:boilermakers do a lot of tig welding tubes  i am a boilermaker tube welder and some plants we tig the whole tube out by buddy welding and sometimes we just do a tig root and stick the rest. it pays good and its fun you should check out your local boilermakers union.
