my regulator reads over 200 psi on bottle pressure when bottle is opened. when i attempt to adjust delivery flow on acetylene, the reg. bumps and bottle pressure goes to 0 psi and nothing comes out torch. just exchanged bottles, so i know it's full. what might be problem. i am pretty new with all this.

Reply:Your regulator needs to be taken apart and cleaned. There's something in there (insect nest?) that allows a teeny bit of pressure to get through initially (thus the tank gauge reading) but as soon as gas flows the obstruction blocks flow entirely, letting the gauges go to zero.that's my guess anyway -- for sure, it needs servicing. metalmagpie |
