Reply:How about a a sliding bolt style latch like you would have in a pro safe.or a gear and rack sliding bolt, or a simple boltInstead of a dial lock, use a double cylinder keyed lock deadbolt. The deadbolt just prevents the sliding bolt latch from moving.https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/i...7PX8-FUXUasBkwYou make a box to house them.Pretty robust and simple.
Reply:http://www.kingmetals.com/Catalog/It...ogDetailId=613This is what you are looking for. Truth be told, with a manual swing gate with no operator it WILL get left open with the cane bolt not put into its hole, and the wind WILL catch it, swing it hard all the way to its stop, bend the gate and rip the hinges off. You are much safer going with a rolling gate without an operator.
Reply:You need something that will hold the two gates together. A padlock is of course the easiest way to do this (and the longest service life because they can always attach a new lock when this one fails), but it sounds like you ruled this out. I don't know the style of gate you're doing, but perhaps you could setup the hasp to be as easily reached from the inside as the outside (in a cutout opening).I put a shed on the side of my driveway, and to stop the doors from hitting cars next to it, I split the door into a double door (two 16" doors). To lock them together, I used a "jimmyproof" lock. It looks pretty sharp with just the rim cylinder visible on the outside, and these are available in double cylinder versions if your gate is open enough to require it (sounds like it will be). The problem is they're quite finicky about alignment, and that might be a big problem on a driveway gate.
Reply:Magnalatch stuff is pretty good. Just make sure you have the girth for mounting. Just put a mechanical push button knob from Morning Industries. Nice quality. Need a lock box though. Previously, used Simplex locks.Sent from my SPH-M830 using Tapatalk
Reply:I was looking at the hookbolt style lock but am also seriously pondering just having a cutout with a couple tabs for a padlock for the ease and reliability I would like the clean look with the hookbolt but have never used one and wonder about the reliability in the az dust especially since this gate will face a heavily travelled road and be getting blasted with dust constantly on one side anyone have any thoughts on this???350P 30A spool gun cut master 51 syncro 250 other stuff " take a dog off the street and make him prosper and he will not bite you sad the same cannot be said for man" i didnt use punctuation just to piss you off |
