Reply:Clean the steel. Both mig and tig will do better after grinding all the millscale off the steel. Both the tig and mig welds look cold. Try longer welds (6"+)Airco Ac/Dc 300 HeliwelderMillerMatic 200 (stolen)Miller Maxstar 150STLMiller AEAD200LE (welding and generating power) Hobart MIG

Reply:I seriously doubt you are running 50 volts with your mig. 50 volts would just about vaporize 1/8" material. Beads look a bit cold and they look very large. keep in mind with fillets, you only need the beads to be the same size on each leg as the thinner material thickness, so for 1/8" you are looking at 1/8" legs.Amps ( not volts) on your tig beads is a bit low. 125 amps is about right for 1/8", for 3/16" you'd want more amps. I'd also agree you need to grind off the mill scale..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan
Reply:Both welds look very cold, the mig weld is large, try to run stringer beads on the mig, once you get good at stringers then try motioning the gun. Clean the metal with some flaps discs and keep practicing
